I happen to have IRIX 5.3 on CD. Although printed right on the CD is states for R4000, R4400, and R4600. Can give it a shot if you like. My SGI is running IRIX 6.2 (at the moment) so I have no use for the 5.3 CD. As soon as I get some time I plan on installing Linux on the SGI. So soon I may not even need the 6.2 CD.
