| ... most of the problem is perception that arises from IT being traditionally a cost-center. Personally, I hate working in cost-centers, just like working for tax-loss companies, or in commodity businesses. It's like trying to swim an Olympic event whilst wearing a straight-jacket. The chances of drowning in mediocrity are astoundingly high. Mostly, the standards are way out of line with the true objectives. The real problem is that, in cost-centers, management is graded on cost reductions, even if it may damage the overall effectiveness of the entire org.
