I'm all for apropos posts. And yours just barely qualifies - it's IT related, so has more relevance than most. But it seems you lacked a certain amount of introduction here.

I got the feeling that we were all supposed to be members of Internal IT support in full knowledge of the woes of working with contractors.

Some of us do know this, but I suspect most would benefit from a slightly more coherent transition from general posting to rant. We all enjoy a good rant when we understand the motivation. HTH
