you get used to all kinds things... I used to sleep with nothing when I was young.. then music, which got progressively louder... then I had a girlfriend who didn't like having music on when we slept together, so I got used to having it very quiet... been like that ever since. I've also gotten accustomed to the increasing volume and proximity of my computers and the fact that it's impossible for my room to be completely dark (too many blinking lights all over the place and an inadequate set of blinds to keep out the street lamps).
