u.s. to buy back stinger missiles from afghanistan by Ma Petite2006-11-19 12:55:59
  good....maybe... by sonofabusch 2002-01-03 07:28:57
this seems to be a part of the world where many of
our actions with 'good intentions' have gone awry,
where unintended consequences have run amok.
I think that those who might sell them back to us would
sell them to anyone; they want the money. What will they
do with the money? Very hard to predict; probably shore up
their base of power by spreading it around amongst their
key followers. I've heard that China is making a knock-off
version and some parts, or batteries at least, are interchangeable.
This, at least theoretically, is how some of our Stingers could
still be functional after more than 10 years in storage, and
explains why we are willing to pay so much to get them off the
street.
