| That's one job I'm glad I won't be doing. I've been roped into being tech support on the phone for my grandparents and parents and assorted other relatives. UGH! I think it would drive me nuts to do that day in and day out.
I have to call tech support every now and then, and it is always funny... they seem resigned to the fact that there will be a complete idiot on the other end of the line, and when I actually know the geekspeak and can ask for help intelligently, they seem shocked. I actually had one guy tell me once that he wished more of the people that called knew what they were doing.
On the other hand, when I have to call tech support, the problem is likely to be so complicated that I have to be referred to the higher-ups. I once came up with a problem that completely stumped a company. I was quite ticked.
The other thing that gets me ticked is when the tech support doesn't know what they are doing. One blonde twit (I know, I can't see hair color over the phone... I'm assuming, okay?) once told me some techdoublespeak that made absolutely no sense, and then when I explained to her why that wasn't true, she got all snotty and told me to "contact my administrator". For crying out loud, I AM the admin! (granted, it's a small home business that my parents run, but STILL...) :-)
Well, enough raving. Got to go see what else has been posted. When do the new comics come online, anyway? I'm never on at this hour. |
