Bad Omen by InfaZorak2001-12-23 04:34:22
  Yeah. by Naruki 2001-12-23 05:16:53
My coworker who is on project in New York called me with an urgent question. He couldn't find our boss' name in the company email address book. I reassurred him that nothing was wrong, and that our boss was surely fine considering his political muscle in the company.

Later that morning we all got called into a meeting where they told us he "no longer works for the company". So much for reassurances. In our company, checking the email list is a very good first indication of who's been axed. We don't usually have errors there, but certainly anything's possible.

You'll just have to judge your own company's error rate there. I believe they are quickest to pull the name out of email to prevent important messages getting lost, but it seems like there should be a way around it.

Oh, well. Let us know.
