I know a number of very intelligent women who have made homemaking, in its highest and best sense, their career, and have married men who can support this. In that sense, they're earning half of his salary, and deserve every penny of it. In The Millionaire Next Door the authors point out that most of the millionaires in this country are neither men nor women, but married couples with children. On the cultural side, raising children is the single most important job in the country, followed closely by teaching. Without that, civilization simply goes away, and with it all our tech toys. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise. But at the same time, neglecting education in favor of having (as opposed to raising) children is a bad bargain, one you're obviously not going to make. Some of the best moms I know are the most educated. All the best to you.
