Now, in the "Deserve More Money" category, we have the "housewives." I tend to really hate that name. People say it as though it was dirty, or second rate.
"What do you do?"
"I'm just a housewife.."
"Oh."

Pardon me while I rant and rave here, folks, but don't you ever, and I mean EVER, look down on a woman who chooses to make her career her home!

You've got no idea what sort of work goes on there- from the meals that need to be cooked to the ever-present mound of laundry to the attempts to keep the house clean, the "housewife" spends all her time doing jobs that constantly need to be done over again! She can never get ahead, and do you know how discouraging is it to do the same job over and over and over again, like a bad dream repeating itself?

But then, we get to what a "housewife" really does.. she makes the house a home in every sense of the word. She is the one who provides comfort and nurture to the kids, and a place of refuge for her husband. She is his strength, making the phrase "a man's home is his castle" true in every sense of the word. For the job that "only a housewife" does, she gets thanks every so often, when someone makes a point of it, but no monetary reward.

The hardest job in the world, folks, is one that is done without regard to any thought of a paycheck every other week. But, if you talk to any one of those "housewives"... I think that they'd tell you that they have the most rewarding job in the world.
