Just another example of the subtle references that are in the movie. Did you notice that Bilbo actually starts singing his wandering song (something about the road, it's been months since I last read it) when he leaves Hobbiton? Or that the inscription on the One Ring (in the language of Mordor) can be heard in the background in several scenes? Once more. I think it's a stunning movie and I love the way Peter Jackson has put in lots of references that otherwise would have been too tedious and long drawn to put in... (Although I really would've liked to hear Gandalf quote the inscription on the ring in Rivendell.)
