I assume you meant Arwen. Eowyn is Eomer's sister, who never leaves Rohan until ROTK and is not met until the fellowship goes to Rohan in TTT. Arwen is Elrond's daughter, who seems to have been shoved into the plot in place of Glorfindel in order to add a love aspect to FOTR and simplify the character set. (Glorfindel came to the aid of Aragorn and the hobbits after the night on Weathertop, not Arwen). I don't thinl we are actually supposed to meet Arwen until the end of ROTK.
Thinking of Glorfindel, do any of you serious Tolkien addicts know if any relationship exists between the FOTR Glorfindel and the Silmarillion (1st age) one who died killing a balrog, defending Turgon's retreat to Gondolin?
I must agree, casting Agent Smith (of Matrix fame) as Elrond was somewhat dissappointing. Elrond isn't supposed to be a stuck-up, bitter schnarf hole. Galadriel didn't strike me as "the most beautiful woman in Middle-Earth", but it seems thay are leaving that part of the plot out. |
