| I've read the books several times since I was introduced to them as a child, nearly twenty years ago; neither of my children has read any. But with a little bit of preparation, they followed the story rather well. (yes, I've gotten flack about taking them - see separate thread for that explanation.) Although they jumped at the appropriate times, neither of them has had a nightmare and it's been a week since they've seen it.
I strongly recommend reading the books - it will fill in many details that they couldn't afford the time to cover. But even without the books, the story unfolds well. |
