--I, too, read the books when I was in my "preteens" and have looked forward to this movie for 18 years. Since I first got wind of this project, I've been anticipating it - wondering if his visions and budget could possibly equal up to the imaginations of my youth. So off I trouped on opening night and I was very pleased that they did. --And again I journeyed on Christmas Day - with my parents, my brothers, and my children along for the ride. Three generations of us sat before the big screen, living the story together. It was an experience well worth any minor plot "tweakings" or storyline shortcuts. I felt the casting was nearly perfect and the settings were absolutely gorgeous. Not even the scary scenes were enough to deter my seven year old son, who was heard to utter "oh! so that's the shadow they were talking about walking up. He's sort of creepy, huh, mom?" --Oh! If you move to Rivendell, can I come too? (And please bring Legolas with you, because he makes me wish that elves were real.. lol) |
