I think they did an excellent job (as you can see in MY view in Iambe's column). Yes, I didn't care for the portrayal of Galadriel that much but it wasn't a big sticking point, I could see where Jackson might have conceptualized her that way. As far as the rope goes, I suspect the scriptwriters will make more of a deal of it when the time is appropriate. Love scenes are often included just because Hollywood thinks a film HAS to have a love scene ("but he has to have a motivation and it obviously has to do with sex because there's no such thing as genuine nobility of the soul ...").
