Having seen the movie, I agree with some of the comments, but not all. Some of my "quibbles" when I was watching went away after I'd thought about it. Like the "love story". Yes, I missed Glorfindel, but I also can understand why the movie introduced Arwen at this point. In the books, she pretty much shows up at the end to get hitched, although there's a vague allusion to her and Aragorn in the first book. Cinematically, doing it exactly as the book would leave the audience (those who haven't read the trilogy) going "who is *SHE*?" in the third installment.

Yes, we all have a favorite bit from the book that got left out. :) Still, I agree with the 4 out of 5 star rating Iliad gave it. Of course, if I hadn't read the book, and compared to Bakshi's monstrousity ....
