I'm another hardcore fan, who was nitpicking the changes they made and trying my best not to say the important lines with the actor and irritate everyone around me. I saw it with a group of people, most of whom had never read the books or hadn't read them in years. The best part for me was explaining all the little gaps the movie left out after it was over. We missed our turn 4 times because the driver was so caught up in listening to my (abridged) history of Middle Earth.
Overall, the movie was great! I dont like all the changes, but I have to admit that they dont ruin the story-they make for a really good movie instead. But as my girlfriend said, it can give people nitemares as well, so dont bring little kids. Oooh, a year is too long to wait for the next one. I guess its time to re-read the series again... |
