actually reasoning with her. Don't be obsessive about it, 'cause 90% of the time it won't work. She thinks of this harassment as "showing her love", and objecting to it just starts the waterworks about "my own daughter doesn't appreciate me". It'll either get better, or you'll get better at shrugging it off.

Please, oh please, for your children's sake remember this! Chances are that she felt the same way toward HER mom at your age, and now she's doing the same thing. Don't YOU do that!
