Remounting the drive worked. Now I know what my root password is. :) I'm slowly getting used to the system. I just need a 2nd mouse, because X doesn't appreciate me unplugging it and then plugging it back in later...or maybe I'll just set up VNC on it, so I don't even have to switch my monitor over... How well does WINE handle Windows games? Does it work at all? Are they playable?
