Question of the Day! by kickstart2001-11-25 00:00:02
Piano, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax*, Bassoon* by schnee 2001-11-25 12:46:53
The * denotes what I play often now (in the present).

I used to take piano lessons when I was *very* young - can't remember exact age...

I started alto sax in 5th grade...

I switched to tenor in 7th grade - first chair in "normal" (concert) band, jazz (before school - Tuesdays), and Woodwind Choir (also before school - Thursdays). That year I also began learning bassoon.

8th grade - first bassoon (of 2) in "normal" band, still first tenor in jazz (8th grade jazz was Wednesdays and Fridays), and the only bassoon in Woodwind choir. I also helped out in 7th grade jazz in the 2nd tenor section (they needed it).

Freshmen year - first bassoon (of 2) in Varsity Band (concert band for freshmen) and 2nd tenor in Jazz I - the "high" jazz - weighted grade (A is a 5.0), all the good players are in Jazz I, the ... ah... not-so-good people are in Jazz 2. I should add that it is very rare for freshmen to get into Jazz I, but my friend (who plays bass guitar) and I did!

Sophomore year (now) - first bassoon (of 4) in Concert Band, and 2nd tenor in Jazz I.

I suppose it does help to be in one of the best (music-wise) schools in Wisconsin...
