...which was mandatory in music class. (Don't know what the type is called in english, "blokkfløyte" - blockflute?)
Anyway, I sucked royally at it. So I started mimmicked whatever the teacher or some other student was doing. Which was a bad thing, because I couldn't see what the teacher did with the thumb, so I got caught, because I sounded terrible.
From then on, I stopped blowing, and kept mimmicking, which kept me safe for quite some time, despite a flute-asphalt "accident" ;-)
As for reading notes, I learned that a while later, when I started fiddling with music in STOS Basic which had a composer. (Amiga users'll remember that as AMOS Basic) After entering several scores from our notebook (including Amazing Graze) I started to understand the notes, and didn't just go "up-and-down" along with the dots on the sheet. Yet another "computer-comes-to-the-rescue" success story!
But I do do a mean air-cheek trumpet when my mouth is dry enough :-) |
