You deserve a reply... by Naruki 2001-11-17 08:09:14
Has it been 11 months? Ye gads! Even though it seems longer, somehow.

Having monitored adiplomat's posts for a while (including having a friend get skewered by one before I was able to participate), I believed that the old rules were still in effect. I generally try to respond in kind, but figuring out what is "kind" (as in type, not as in nice) is often the hard part. If I see someone being mean, bullyish, or aggressive, I try to reflect. If they are being ignorant (because they don't know, not because they don't want to), I try to explain. Harry knows there's a lot that I'm ignorant about, so I certainly don't want to attack someone for not knowing (and, might I say, this is an uncommon attitude for people who have done tech support for more than a year).

Nevertheless, it becomes much harder when the person is merely ignorant of the fact that he is mean.

Ok, enough of the self-serving crap. The real reason I wanted to reply to your post is that you correctly pointed out the flaw in my logic. So I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! I hate you! I wish I'd never been born! Oh, wait. No, what I was going to say is that, yes. It's true. But my point that it expresses adiplomat's personal feelings is also true. So there. And cheese on top!
