Horror Stories by Dark_Jedi2001-11-16 07:39:46
Not me but... by Arienadean 2001-11-16 09:56:42
My boyfriend had roommates of which were bit tipsy one night. They did something to set off the smoke alarm tho my boyfriend wasn't sure what. Well then they try to shut off the smoke alarm and are creative wiring tipsy... Power goes out... Eventually power comes back on and the roommates go out for a night on the town... They get back and are up a bit then head off to sleep... Next day or so one discovers his computer isn't quite right... Seems he poured beer inside it.

Another one was my ex husband working on his and his siblings computer. Well he's had no computer training what so ever.(he used to primarily use his for playing solitar and writing occasionally) Anyways he crammed in cards somehow plugged a drive in the wrong way or something(well so his sister says) and blew up a hard drive, he's also destroyed video cards, mother boards and sound cards. Then they (his sister or brother) call me and ask me how to make them work right now or have my kids ask me because well they know what will happen if he touches theirs. Oh and then there was the time he thought people downloading stuff messed up his system... He'd caught an email virus and another time he thought it was people downloading things again messing it up and he got a trojan. So he banned everyone from using his computer(oops err my daughters computer that he took over) reinstalled the OS... and low and behold it happened again... so finally he installed an antivirus checker and keeps it running.

I guess I do have a few of my own... My own boo boo's were diffrent... One time I was tired and messing with my system. Not totally paying attention and tho I'd turned power off I forgot to unplug it. First time I've ever forgot to unplug it. Anyways I was pulling my second nic out as the ISA wasn't working right anyways... *zap* Got shocked and got burned. The mark on my hand lasted awhile and it hurt for several days. Other than that hmmm just opening a bottle of pop by my computer. The pop hadn't been handled that roughly so I figured it would be ok... nope it exploded soaking my keyboard.(so I had to dry off my desk and what I could of the keyboard then hung it off a hook on my door while using a spare keyboard til it dried).

Other horror stories didn't involve computers... One was when my brother in law called me asking some maintenance questions on his car as my exhusband was out. He asked "how much oil is enough" I said well check with the dipstick to see its level then add a bottle and recheck and do that again til it says "full." He said "oh because I was just adding oil and it overflowed." I said "how much oil did you put in there anyways" his response was least 4 bottles then it started overflowing and he was wondering if his car would be ok now because it had lots of oil... When my ex got back he started laughing away then had to explain to his brother in law why that much oil was a bad thing.

Then there was the time my ex's father dropped a nut down a engine he was working on... no no wait I think that happened twice. Both times he didn't take my advice and try to flush it out, etc... and he ran it with the nut inside which of course caused problems.
