  REBOOT by dfallan 2001-11-16 08:51:10
Perhaps my favorite Computer Animated series.

For those of you unfamiliar with this, here is the skinny.
Also you can go to www.mainframe.ca (Where I copied this first paragraph from) The company Mainframe has brought you other animated classics such as Beast Wars (AKA Beast Machines) Beast Machines, War Planets (AKA Shadow Raiders) and Action Man.

"ReBoot" was the first ever half-hour computer animated TV series produced in the world. Originally seen on North American Television in September of 1994, on YTV in Canada and on ABC Television in the U.S., the series ran three seasons (39 episodes) and was eventually seen in over 70 countries around the world. The show remains one of YTV's top-rated programs and garnered impressive U.S. audiences as a daily strip on the Cartoon Network over the past two years.

In Reboot, Essentially computers represent cities (refered to as systems), the Net is sort of a highway that combines them all (Although in the first two seasons we saw little sign of other Systems).
The population consists of Sprites (Characters who look like just about anything, usually human), binomes (little guys tat look like 1s and 0s, Numbers, and villanous Viruses.

Bob is what is called a Guardian.
When a User plays a Game, a large Cube drops from the sky and everyone in that area becomes part of the game. They of course Reboot themselves so they can look the part of the game, and aquire any equipment or abilities needed.
If the User wins the entire area the Cube landed in, is nullified, as are the Characters.
The Guardian's job among others, is to help win games.

The first season and a half were, okay.
Always a nice assortment of computer jokes and such.
The last 4 or 5 episodes of season two were part of a continuous story line that lead up to season 3.

Season 3 was one large 16 part story. Well concieved, rife with hilarious parodies and jabs of pop. culture, and the typical hidden computer jokes, all the while still maintaining its focus on characters and story. (One Episode, Firewall, was entirely a James Bond Spoof, including an opening action sequence, a special theme song for the opening credits, and a visit to Hugh Branch (Q Branch). In another SUper Heros were merged with Star Trek Characters and hilarity Ensued)

It ended on a happy note, however there were loose ends whcich Canadian viewers can watch this and next sunday on YTV (2 part Movie)

I think any User Friendly Fan would enjoy this show (Keeping in mind the first season and half are more watered down, mostly due to certain restrictions ABC placed on the series..from what I understand)
And to answer the obvious next question...No, I do not work for Mainframe, YTV or any video distributor.
