At one company where I worked, they were getting rid of an old Honeywell system that handled their purchasing and inventory system. I had to migrate all of the COBOL programs from it to the big IBM that the rest of the company was using. The purchasing manager threw a fit when I refused to migrate one application. I told them it wasn't needed anymore. Unfortunately, the VP agreed with him and insisted that I migrate the program to the IBM. Instead I wrote a dummy program with no processing that immediately returned a successful completion code. The original program was responsible for copying report files from the Honeywell to the IBM.
