There are good explanations. by Sehmket 2001-11-14 09:27:26
The orrigional Evil Dead was made as an actual movie - much like, say Armageddon or Jurassic Park was, though with less budget. Yea, well, it bombed. BUT, it made JUST ENOUGH money that the producers thought that MAYBE they could squeeze a few more cents out of a sequal. It was pretty a awful movie (Evil Dead 2), and it did HORRIBLY in the theatres, but the producers noticed that there was an underground following of the movies. Well, they didn't have anything else to waste their money on, so they dicided to make a third one (Army of Darkness). In this one, they realized what the following was all about - bad special effects, bearly held together plots, incredible one-liners, and Bruce "the MAN!" Campbell. So, they didn't even try to take themselves serioulsy, they just made a movie. Just a note, AoD came out in '93 - the same summer as Jurrasic Park. Take a look at the difference in special effects. Yea, incredible, isn't it?

Oh, and Duke Nukem for Duke Nukem 3D was modeled after Ash. I beleive there are even a few one-liners that are the same, though I haven't seen the movie in a few weeks, and I haven't played the game in a few months.
