| It's not a geek classic (personally, I don't consider Monty Python (any of them) or Rocky Horror "geek" films - they are generally termed "cult classics," along with Army of Darkness.). First of all, for all the adult humour and Rupert Holmes songs, it's technically a "kid's film," wich kinda bars it from being a true cult classic. Plus, at least in my oppinion, it is too mainstreem to be a cult classic (how many people have ever seen Army of Darkness twice? None. They've either seen it none and say "Army of what? Never heard of it. Bruce who? Dunno."; or have seen it approxamatly six bazzilion times and say "Army of Darkness is the best flippin' movie EVER. Bruce Campbell is THE MAN!!!" This is what difines a true cult classic.). Almost everyone has seen Shrek at least once, usually twice. In my oppinion, it is a film that parents will be suggesting to little Jack and Jane to watch. It's kinda like a movie for everyone, as opposed to a cult classic. In conclusion, No, this is not a new cult classic, it is just a very popular (with good reason) film. |
