| ...no mountains in Ohio? |

as far as I'm concerned, there are no *real*
mountains in the entire east (least) half of the US.
I grew up in southeast South Dakota, full of corn fields
and feedlots ("...the smell of gold...") and not a blessed
mountain in sight. Our idea of a big vacation was driving
across the state, grabbing an ice water at Wall Drug, and
spending a few days in the Black Hills, one of the loveliest
bits of land we ever stole from the "Injuns" and ruined with
logging, tourist traps, and toxic mine runoff.
btw, the black 'hills' are higher than any peak in the
Appalachian 'Mountains'...
When we first moved to Montana I thought we had died
and gone to heaven -- beautiful snow-capped peaks in all
directions... now we live in central Washington; on a clear day
we can see Mt Rainier
<marvin>...hills...don't talk to me about hills...</marvin> |
