After finishing "Realschule" (something a little like Highschool) with really awfull grades (mainly because I spent more time in front of the computer than learning) I became a electrician. A few years later I had the chance to get into an IT position sideways (Before the dot-com hype). And after a few years of practice nobody cared anymore about any grades I might have had years ago.
