Let' imagine I had five million german Mark (about US$2.3M). I bring them to the bank and get something with 5% p.a., making (after taxes) 175k p.a., or DM 480 per day.
Okay, the first three or four weeks I'd probably be on some kind of buying spree, but thereafter I could calmly settle with the fact that I'd probably never ever have to worry about money again. Big house? What for? Two or three rooms are enough for me, and with this money I can make them really comfy. What do I care for getting even more money? Just relax, sit down, code and live a happy live. Maybe I could even donate my time to something worth it, like administration of school computer pools for free, and giving CompSci classes.
In short: I don't like money, it has a tendency of getting too few. If I had such a spring of money like these 5M, I would also never have need for more. I could even freely give away what accumulates beyond my own needs, but that's another matter :) |
