...no matter how many times I read that DeCSS was to play DVDs in Linux, it always comes across as a convenient cover story more akin to the "For educational purposes only" on warez sites than a real defense for its existence. No DVD software was written for Linux because of its open source nature - decryption would have likely been made public, which really defeats the purpose of it, don't you think?
