drinking: Drinking laws are state regulated and I don't know any other state that does that... must just be an alaska thing
I don't think Singles are discriminated against really. Your exact example about credit is what I mean. Getting married for all practicle purposes is no different then going into a business partership with someone, it's just that the business you have taken on is your life not a product or service. If I have a business parter and my company wants to get a loan (and we are not incorporated) then both of our credits affect that loan just the same. There is strength in sharing resources though, this is why people often get roomates. Couples have advantages that singles don't have but they have disadvantages too and they all pretty much balance out. Yes, I see alot of people whining that they want some of the advantages that couples have, but I never see those same people want to take on the disadvantages. Now, the disclaimer on this is that I belive strongly in life partners not just marrages, if two people have commited to spend thier life together I don't care what ports they plug thier hardware into at night. A partner is a partner and THOSE people actually do have a legitamate place to complain but most people who are just singles whining about couples getting extra stuff aren't seeing the whole picture.
I've been single, I've been married, I don't see either as more discriminated then the other. |
