Hmmm... "Cool" sounds like some kiddie - but it fits here. There are even links to related commands (like 'lsattr' - list attributes).
The kernel release is 2.2.20, but the application is designed to be 'turnkey' or easy to use for even newbies like me. The application is Smoothwall - a Linux-based firewall with NAT, DHCP (server and client), Intrusion Detection (Snort), SSH, VPN (FREESWAN), web proxy (SQUID - not very configurable in the web interface), dynamic DNS, all controllable from a web interface driven by Apache. It supports three networks: RED (internet), GREEN (intranet) and ORANGE (DMZ). In other words, a really cool (oops, I said it again!) piece of software!
The file I wanted to modify contained instructions for displaying a 'nag' screen that I wanted to eliminate. It seems that the developers are a little strapped for cash after being screwed by a company that wanted their firewall software, but not them. One of their updates included a nag screen every time you moved on the web interface. Well it took only about a week before they posted another update that removed it. (It was REALLY annoying!)
Well, I guess I should at least PRETEND I'm doing something useful (trying to avoid the 'w' word). |
