This is the fault of geeks, anyway. by nin_man 2001-11-09 11:07:37
There was already something in place to circumvent copying of copyrighted VHS tapes. Remember Macrovision? Now remember all the devices felonious-minded geeks who can't accept being told "No!" cooked up to get around the Macrovision protection? Or remember DVDs, and that damned DeCSS crap some other geek cooked up because he didn't want to pay $20 for a movie? None of this would be necessary if certain geeks could leave well enough alone. It's one thing to want to know how something works. How one uses that knowledge is another matter entirely.
