What purpose could you possibly have in copying movies at all? One could make the argument that it's just in case something happens to the original, but who backs up their CDs, or even their movies now onto other tapes? I think everyone's whining about something that's not actually going to affect them, just for the sake of complaining.

On a side note, taping films isn't questionably illegal at all. Stop and read that nifty FBI warning at the beginning of every video. That should clear up any questions one might have.
