One thing ya learn as a mountaineer and rock climber is lightning safety. I've heard some rather amazing anecdotes about strange electrical occurences. Just about any wierd scenario you can think of for a strong electrical charge doing wierd things... has.
One account of ball lightning is it entering a house through an open window, striking the kitchen sink, being conducted through the pipes of the house, then arc'ed from a showerhead to the light in the bathroom, then being conducted to the basement where it blew out the stereo and fizzled out. All of this was documented basically by scorch patterns and fried bits of metal and wiring. Why it took that obscure route to ground itself, no one knows.
Now I will say that's easier to explain than the insurance company actually paying you.
