Why I tell people not to use Windows by Illiad2001-11-07 09:09:29
    that's a reason that I can get behind by leowic 2001-11-07 15:01:14
I want to hear a reason that holds water. "I don't use Windows, and this is why." and then give me a real reason. Not edict. Most of what I am hearing from people is I don't like Windows because it sucks. That's not productive. That doesn’t help. WHY does it suck? Don't give me "one times. and what if's." You know... one time I was sitting at an airport, or what if it's 3am and the server flips over... I have a counter for each and ever one of your what ifs and one times...

Illiad said, I don't like windows because it crashes, and thirty minutes lost means that I just had one hour of unproductive work, (30 minutes lost + 30 minutes to get back to the point of the crash). He opinion is quantified and verifiable. That is good info. I would counter with "what are you doing on it to make it crash?" And the conversation would go from there. I would find a solution and fix the problem.

But my point is missed. I hoped to shed a little light on Microsoft bigotry. Windows 2000/XP are a incredible suite of OS's. With knowledge of it's working of the 2000 along with XP can create a user environment that is a one time, secure and functional and stable.

But I'll admit that if you like to "tinker" with you computer, don't use 2000 or XP. Use Linux it's more fun.

And Illiad, the "get a life" crack was using an extreme to illustrate a point.
