| I don't code. I have no interest in learning. I hate programming. What I did learn for required comp sci classes in high school, I promptly forgot. I can fix any computer. This doesn't make me a geek. Just like being able to fix a car doesn't make your mechanic a race car driver. I do enjoy the outdoors, and actually prefer it to the cold, lifeless glare of a monitor. I'm on a computer quite a bit because I have many friends all over the place, and talking to them over IM (AOL's Instant Messenger, so hah!) is much cheaper than over the phone. I'd prefer to be around and with real people than a keyboard. I have trust in my government. I like my government and I like the concept of large corporations. Geeks, as a whole, do not. Similarly, I embrace popular culture. I hate coffee, and hardly ever drink any carbonated drinks. Excepting periods of extreme boredom, I also strongly dislike games. I use my computer to check mail, talk to a friend or three, and go see about four websites. All I've got installed on here is Windows, Office, some Adobe imaging products, Dreamweaver, AIM, ZoneAlarm and KaZaA. I used to have Linux on an extra hard drive, but I cast it aside after having decided I would never have a use for it, using that drive instead to hold a copy of my Windows 2000 CD. I find BOFH to be extremely dull. I think Hackers is a pretty stupid movie. I strongly dislike sci-fi/fantasy, and I'd rather have a kidney removed through my eye socket than play an RPG. I realize there is a life outside of computers, and that it is a quite wonderful world indeed. If I had anything better to do, I'd be out experiencing it instead, and not missing the headache-inducing glare of my monitor one little bit. Need I go on? |
