I appreciate fine comics. I also read Sluggy, Garfield, and b.c. A comic strip does not a geek make.
It certainly contributes when a large chunk of the humor only makes sense to geeks.

I did once, yes, and only for money. I hate the bloody things now, but would again do it for the money. This makes me a whore, but not a geek.
If you hate them, why are you wasting time reading online comics and posting on online message boards? And I suspect you rather like technical toys in general.

So do many people with cable and twisted senses of humor. Liking a good laugh with a British accent makes not a geek.
