...the most important point. Even a hundred dollars when compared to free is expensive.
When I decide between two products that provide me with the same basic functions and one costs hundreds of dollars, and one is free I will pick the free one and spend the money on something else. I know, linux!=windows but I'm not about to write an essay about it. For all intensive purposes, we'll just say that they both provide for my basic needs.
Having said that, though, I run Win2k and Mandrake in dual boot because when I got Win2k I was just starting to learn linux, and still haven't had time to be as proficient in linux as I am in windows. I like Win2k and think MS is finally starting to move in the right direction... but I have yet to try a non-beta WinXP. |
