Well, Mandrake works, and I don't have time to bother with learning to get around in another distribution just yet (still pretty new). When I get some free time (EE grad student, so it'll be a while) I'm going to go install linux-from-scratch. After that, maybe I'll try debian when I know what I really want. Until then, Mandrake works well enough for my purposes (some of my friends accuse it of being screwy) and it doesn't crash.
