Especially if you still have to go to school and are legally only allowed to do stuff like paper rounds. You're forgetting the geeks in training here.

Also, "It costs too much" and "I don't want to register" are still valid reasons. Sure, trying to stamp out piracy is a good cause, but we still have a limited software budget, so should the decision ever ultimately be a financial one, most people will choose the cheaper product (which doesn't have to be a pirated version of the more expensive one, of course). And piracy or not, many people like their privacy and don't want to give their personal information to a corporation.

And I'm still kind of torn about the issue of computer users not being "in the know" about their machine. Sure, we all have to start somewhere, but the problem is that many Windows users I know refuse to try and learn more about their PC. Why should they, Windows takes care of everything. A picture of a blue sky is far more bAnd that's how we get all those stories about broken cupholders etc. Granted, those are extremes, and some if not most of them are probably made up. It's still depressing.
