As long as it's only x86 hardware, which at the time of Windows early creation was not the only or best architecture in existence. Given the opportunity at various stages to port Windows over to Alpha or some other architechure, they declined.

The software takes good, hard looks at your computer. Install windows, then change your motherboard and see how well it handles it.
