  Piracy by neksys 2001-11-07 08:57:33
The two that really erks me is the combo of "it cost to much,"

...

And as to the 486 statement, get a new computer. They are not expensive.

You're forgetting that for some people, it *does* cost to much. Running out and spending $1000 on a new computer, and forking over $200 for a new operating system just isn't an option for a significant portion of the population. By raising prices to combat "losses" (Microsoft turns over tens of millions in profits every fiscal quarter), they're compounding the problem of piracy further, separating the poor from the rich. The higher you raise prices, the further the "piracy bar" is raised, with more and more people finding themselves unable to pay for new upgrades.

Now, it should be noted that I in no way support or condone piracy, as both a musician and a programmer. However, Microsoft needs to learn that there are other methods of combatting piracy than simply twisting the knobs higher on the price gun.
