So, there I was, minding my own business,... by special_ed 2001-11-05 08:51:54
when people around me began discussing where they are going for lunch. One suggests the nearby restaurant that serves meat products like it's going out of style, replete with oil to match the annual output of OPEC. Unable to mind my own business any longer (and attempting to spare them the horrors of terrible food), I comment on how the named establishment has lower than average standards of food, or, more colloquially, "sucks". One of the participants in the conversation remarks that the only reason I don't like it is that I am a vegetarian (which, incidentally, is not true)(I mean, I am a vegetarian, but I've had the food there, and it really does suck).
Upon hearing this, the real Brainiac of the group, whom I will call Dave*, proceeds to exclaim, "Really? Aw, dude, that sucks that you're a vegetarian."

I was speechless.
I half expected him to follow that by telling me how sorry he was and how he wished he could help.

*Even though his name is Andrew.
