Windows adapts fairly slow to new environments, so the trouble might be that you've taken your machine out of the nice warm desk into the cold open. Try to set a nice warm cuddle desktop scheme so windows will feel more comfortable, keep this up for about two weeks, then gently replace it with the original scheme.
