oh you caught me ;)
currently im not even employed, much less for microsoft :P~~
in case i came off as saying 'microsoft good linux bad', let me make my feelings clear..
i use windows (xp, specifically) on my main machine, an athlon 1200C. i have windows on this speedy machine since i enjoy playing games, and with the exception of quake and a few others, there isnt much gaming for linux. im aware of problems with windows, but im also aware of how to work around them.
i use linux (slack 8) on my previous main machine, a celeron 466. i use it mainly for coding (i have several gpl c projects, mostly irc services, and a a few ircd mods), i also use it for irc when im doing something else that demands 100% of my screen (aka, a game). due to problems with the onboard sound i mentioned in a previous post, i don't use it for music much. i run seti on both machines (fyi, linux takes just as long to do a unit as windows does. they both took around 25 hours on the celeron.)
when i see people who are apparently saying 'linux good windows bad', or 'windows good linux bad' i tend to take the opposite side of that argument, just to be an ass. rarely, (such as now), i'll try to tell them that they both have their strong points and their weak points. i use both for their strengths. when i go to run a server, windows is out. forget it. linux, freebsd, etc. when i go to play games, its windows or nothing. when i want to go on irc, i prefer mirc, but ill use xchat. when i wanna code something, its *nix. ive tried coding windows apps, its a nightmare.
in short, i dont work for ms ;) |
