There's plenty of office applications for any OS, there would very probably be a DirectX-like gaming interface if there were demand, there's plenty to criticize about non-Microsoft products too, and "Oh no! Not another BSOD!" isn't all that different from "Crap, the system's bombed again", is it? As for the lawyers and politicians, there's always far too much stuff for them to do.
