Is it just me, or is anyone else disgusted with some of the US car companies since Sept 11? They are be running TV ads promoting their usual shell games (low/zero interest loans in return for buyer paying full price). But they are promoting these business-as-usual practices using patriotic music, and voice-overs patting themselves on the back and implying that what they are doing is some selfless gesture to help America recover. I have no problem with companies tooting their own horn about really doing something positive (such as donate to a relief fund). But the car companies are exploiting tragedy as a marketing gambit, pure and simple. Yuk. Am I overreacting? Or are others just as disgusted as I am. (BTW: I apologise if I'm painting with too broad a brush. I can't say for sure that I've seen this from all US car companies.)
