Aloha everyone:)
I check out the comic every day, of course, and I have my share of the various UF-paraphernalia (Dust puppy doll, shirts, comic books, etc:), but I can't say that I've read the forums too much; I think I've had 4 or 5 posts total...
Truth be told, I'm already completely dedicated to the VooDooPC boards, coming up on 9,000 posts there in the last year (wow... that's a scary number!:-|
The structure here seems a bit overwhelming... I'm not sure, but it seems that something posted on a particular date quickly looses significance as new strips come out and the previous day's thread is hardly looked at...:(
I enjoy occasionally discussing topics with online-folks that just can't be properly contemplated or discussed in a 24-hour period, so I guess I found that a bit discouraging...:-(
also, I'm not sure how many people are here that post on a regular basis? Again, just trying to keep up with all the people on one boards is tough enough, trying to meet strangers on a second board is a somewhat scary concept...
hmm... maybe I'm taking my head-first jump here?
We'll see ... ;-)
oh, darn, I guess I should say something about me...
hmm, on my other boards I am have somewhat of a reputation for writing darn long posts, without always neccessarily saying much;)
I guess you can already sort of see why... :-)
I'm 22.5 years old, currently back in University of Toronto to finish up my Computer Science degree. I'm actually a visiting student here from university of Manitoba, and also taking courses from University of Athabasca by correspondence.
Administration is therefore, by definition, the bane of my existence... seems that my paperwork and beggin' and pleadin' have gone up exponentially as I started attending more then one U... but I digress...
I'm currently in that crucial stage of my life where I sorta need to decide what to specialize in... I'm such an enthusiast about computers that I pretty much want to know, learn, play with and dabble with *everything* computer related... from the lowest-level kernel or hardware concepts to the highest-level OO developing, all the levels of administration in between (DBA, Network Admin, SysAdmin, etc:), or other activities such as graphics or web-developments etc...
But I gotta find something to sort of specialize in before I go out in the cruel world and get that adult-type thingy called a "job" (brrr... scary... been there, done that, went back to school to run away from it;-)
I'm actually from Southern Europe originally; I've lived in English-speaking places for I guess about 6 years now (Year in Minnesota, 4 years in Manitoba, and a year in Toronto, Ontario now...); so -- please excuse my spelling, grammar, and usual lack of in/definite articles:)
Anyhoo, most of things about me can be found at my currently hopelessly disorganized home page
http://www.nikola.novak.net
I am not sure exactly what my diary is, what the top-level entry is, nor what I should be doing with it?
I sorta assumed that with so many people here, only the diaries of the top few posters will really be looked at by anybody...
PS did I mention that I'm cursed with inability to keep my posts short? ;-) |
