linux distros are (basically) free .. you get free tech support, if you dont mind being told to rtfm whenever you ask a question.. theres no activation! .. 'bloated code' .. how is it bloated? give me an example. .. faulty drivers? i haven't seen any evidence of this. maybe you just buy crappy hardware. security holes? well, linux has those too. if you dont keep on top of patches and such (windowsupdate?) then you're vulnerable too. fugly default desktop? you can change it, and i dont think much of the default desktops of most window managers either. everything needs a little customizing.

really, if you're going to debate, you could at least try to be somewhat original.

whats xp got going for it.. hm. well it's easy enough to install that pretty much anyone can do it. go give your mom a cd with your favorite distro on it, see how far she gets. it's easy to use. theres tons of software for it. theres lots of friendly, free tech support (rtfm isnt a term i hear too often in windows help channels), it supports tons of hardware, even the cheap generic crap that shouldn't even exist (winmodem? nah, its just software driven, and linux doesnt have the software for it.)
